We started to both learn and see the devastation of the quakes five years prior. 80% of the downtown was damaged beyond repair. ... catching up with us! - so Jon drove us to the campsite, we did a bit of food shopping, and as I write he is in the process of cooking a delicious-smelling pasta dish. It only lasted about 12 minutes but it was on a special track with climbs of 45 degrees, banging down the other side, at one time into two metre depth of muddy water.
