Today Tim and Jan delivered to our room fresh fruit and just out of the oven croissants to supplement our continental brekky supplies. On the bus at 8.30 and we drove out to the quarry where the local sandstone comes from. It is a beautiful white stone and they cut two tonne blocks from the floor. Quite an amazing place! ... some great brownies you then get to see some of the night sky. It was a little bright for us unfortunately with the moon, and we did have patchy clouds, but the guys did a great job of picking out some objects in between the clouds, we saw Jupiter plus 4 moons and some weather really clearly, a really up close of view of the moon, some globular cluster and Andromeda… not to mention, of course the southern cross!

... the eastern coast of NZ after passing through Blenheim. The day was warmer and sunny and the sights are beautiful passing through tunnels and hugging the coast. We were able to spot several seal colonies. We arrived at Christchurch at 6:20 PM.
