Toda y we planned a short hop up the coast to a small fishing harbour and community called Pāvilosta, about 28 miles away. Pāvilosta can only be entered in light wind conditions as the mouth of the harbour is very shallow, 3 metres or so and if there was any swell, there would be a danger that the boat would ground as you tried to get in. Today we aimed to change countries (again), this time the destination was Liepāja in Latvia, 52 miles up the coast. We were off by 07:30 and sailing by 08:15. It was bright and breezy (still chilly) and with the wind from the West, we made good progress, averaging 7 knots for the first couple of hours. I got through the entire 500+ students and loved the opportunity to also talk a lot with the teachers between classes. What a great experience!
