This was supposed to be a 1/2 day outing..........but We started early in the morning after a lovely salad, grilled vegetables, sausage ( from yesterday), ham and egg breakfast. Sue cooked up a storm! We had heard that we needed to park outside the city wall for the day and walk in. Paid parking of course as car spaces are at a premium. After Mass I visited the even-closer Church of San Domenico, which holds relics of St Catherine of Siena, patron saint of Italy and I think of Europe, too. The preserved head of St Catherine is the centre-piece of a side chapel in this enormous building.

The loss of my beard makes me feel less conspicuous when I venture out into the crowded, narrow streets of the city. I'm tempted ...
