Day 3 & the 3 musketeers set off for the last day of our bike trip. A great downhill ride with magnificent views once again. The tour took us right through the centre of town before reaching our hotel at about 2.30 pm. Loved it but glad to be off the bike! Enjoyed a well deserved bottle of prosecco to celebrate the challenge of our ride. So proud of us all Tomorrow sees us headed for Torino (Turin) via fast train from Firenze (Florence) to start our cheese tour on ...

Ready for round 2 we jumped in the water and enjoyed some sulphur bathing, this time in ...

Buonconventlo already flourished in ancient times thanks to its particular geographical situation: at the confluence of the Arbia and Ombrone rivers on one hand, and along the route of the all-important mediaeval Via Francigena on the ...

... at incredibly high speeds and whipping around corners with loads of people screaming in your ears to distract you, to stay on your horse. At least three of the riders did not make it to the end of the race but it really doesn't matter, because in The Palio, the horse wins the race, not the rider. Even if a horse were to cross the finish line in first place without its rider, that contrada would win. So the race started and it was 90 seconds of ...
