    Drove today on the Redwood Highway, mostly Hwy 101. The morning fog evaporated quickly and we had a full day of sun: from 54F to 74F by the afternoon. Great vistas when the road went to the coast at Eureka and Crescent City and fabulous scenery (redwoods and forest) the rest of the way here. No elk sightings, despite many signs promising same.

    ... forests and then back inland, into the forests & mountains of Oregon. Fortunately the holiday season hasn't started in earnest yet & most places are still fairly empty, just the way we like it.

    The van is going well, we've had some good free overnight spots (thanks Carolyn & Patrick) and we have no complaints. Hope all is well with you as well

    ... all our money here in Grant's Pass, OR - which is where we holed up last night (Monday). Now admittedly Grant's Pass is not the worst place we've stayed in during our travels as it has a beautiful natural setting in the mountains. However, like many depressed US areas, it has a rather bleak look to it and the landscape, as I look out the window, is mostly fast food outlets.
