Drove today on the Redwood Highway, mostly Hwy 101. The morning fog evaporated quickly and we had a full day of sun: from 54F to 74F by the afternoon. Great vistas when the road went to the coast at Eureka and Crescent City and fabulous scenery (redwoods and forest) the rest of the way here. No elk sightings, despite many signs promising same.

I don't want to keep harping on about the food here, but we went out to dinner last night and I saw fried zucchini (courgettes to you and I) on the menu. This is my favourite starter at our local Italian restaurant so I ordered them. As Gordon said afterwards, "The clue was in the name- zucchini logs." Three large courgettes, halved breadcrumbed and fried arrived at our table. I tried to send them back, not recognising them as what I'd ordered as my dainty ...
... and numerous trees for shade. A walking trail along the bank of the Rogue River leads from one loop to the next for a total of a little over a mile. This is a beautiful park.
The hot weather still haunts us. It's 88 degrees today and feel muggy. This evening the clouds are building. Big clouds that can turn into thunder heads.
Tomorrow we will push on to our week long home in Silverton, Oregon- Silver Spur RV Park.
