Historical Traveler Reviews of Bungalows Kiwi Maspalomas
Great Place
from avispa
Just returned on 17 May from my second holiday to
the kiwi.Joe was his usual self enjoying every minute of every day.The first week was busy and
Joe put on a birthday party for one of the guests
{June from scotland},he set out the tables around the bar and laid on loads of food,a big cake and champagne, that was a really nice gesture and a good time was had by all! The second week was very quiet only three bungalows occupied so we had the whole place to ourselves,no fighting for the sunbeds. All of Maspalomas was quiet this week not just the kiwi.Dani, the rep still came to visit us every day and we just sat chatting round the pool.
We stayed in No44 this time although it does'nt
really matter which one you have as there's never very far to go to get anything. We would recommed this complex to anyone looking for a self catering holiday as its close to all the shops and restaurants and best of all Joe makes you feel very much at home. We look forward to going next year,or befor if I get my way!

i'v been 2 the kiwi apartments twice in the last 5yrs and each time i
go i come away loving it even more.
Joe is the nicest man iv ever met and we are now known to him as "The Scousers." He always looks out for peoples best interests and is brill with kids and a good laugh.
The Kiwi apartments are a lovely place to visit if you are looking for a family destination as it is quiet at night but the nightlife is only a short taxi ride away. plus Faro 2 is just down the road wich also contains fantastic nightlife especially the banana tropical bar.
i will definately be re-visiting the kiwi apartments.
What about the dog pound next door?

Just returned on 19 Jan after 2 weeks spent in bungalow 35. The bungalow's decor looking a little tired and a refurbish would not go amiss. There is a residential compound that runs alongside kiwi bungalows 27-37. How many dogs are in there is anybodys guess. Any morning from 7-30 they can start up and we had them still going at midnight one day. The main culprit seems to be the occupier of property 20 directly opposite kiwi bungalow 27(2 dogs). It goes on and on like a Chinese water torture. I (and others) reported it to the rep and we were obviously not the first. The police had evidently in the past spent a nght there and heard nothing. If they had asked they would have been told it was a daytime problem. The rep also said people who returned to the Kiwi bungalows, were now asking on arrival, not to be allocated bungalows 25-37. I have already written to Thomas Cook expressing my displeasure, hopefully they will get something done. So my advice is if you are allocated bungalows 25-37 refuse. Why should it spoil your holiday.

just returned from the kiwi bungalows, monday 24th november 2003, we had a fantastic week, bungalows were large enough for a family of four had everything you needed, kettle ,toaster, fridge 2 ring hob and a coin metered tv,very clean, the towels were changed every other day.there are 49 bungalows the complex is fenced in, you are given a key to the main gate, extremely safe for young children,we stayed in number 38 which didn`t over look the pool but was ideal if you wanted to retire from the noise of the pool and bar. joe was everything the internet reviews said,a very hard working man who was great with the kids and loved his football, however if you order a meal make sure you eat it he didn`t like waste the faro 2 was five minutes away, a host of shops ranging from food to designer wear, the bottom supermarket was well stocked, but don`t expect a service with a smile, night times look out for the gold man, very clever, a great holiday, but beware of the scratch card boys

Just got back (Sunday) 2/11/03. Had a fab week, kids never stopped!!
bungalow fine although basic. Joe was a marvel with his breakfasts and cups of tea! There was many trips out on offer from the reps which allowed us to view more of this lovely island. Faro 2 (large shopping centre) was nearby, which offered plenty of restaurants, bars and designer shops. Supermarket was well stocked. We have just booked to return next year and can't wait!!
Happy holidays!

My family and i have just returned from the kiwi bungalows having spent a fortnight there(aug 2003).The complex is set in pretty well kept gardens, has a nice child friendly pool, plenty of sunbeds to go round, reception service of whom a very friendly and ever so helpful'martin'runs,a poolside bar which serves drinks, tea coffee, breakfasts, snacks etc at very reasonable prices ecpecially during happy hour! This is run by'joe' possibly the nicest person you could ever meet, very friendly, loves the kids and loves to chat-ecpecially football! The bungalows themselves are not that big,but do have everything you need for a self catering holiday, including a terrace with table and chairs and two sunloungers if you dont want to go very far! Location wise they are perfect, about a 2 minute walk to the main faro2 shopping centre where you will find lots of different shops and restaurants,a mini golf course, two minimarkets and lots of childrens amusements.About another 5 minute walk from there is holiday world,a small funfair site with arcades and bowling, great for the kids, not very expensive.Ocean park water world is a 5 minute walk in the other direction from kiwi, fairly underated but much better value for money than the well known 'aquasur' a bit further away.Again a great place to spend the day if you have kids(or not!) The beach is a good 40 minute walk away but taxis are sooo cheap its far easier to get there that way!Huge beach, very sandy, can be quite hot on your feet! The famous sand dunes back onto it and are a great sight. All in all we had a wonderful holiday, and although we did venture out to playa and rico, definatley found maspalomas the place to be.I would recommend this holiday to anyone, even in august when its MEANT to be packed. If i could find one thing to pick on it would be the amount of germans but to be totally honest you only really come across them at the beach which is big enough to avoid anyone if you wanted to!And as for the cockroach PROBLEM they are about as much of a problem as ants are to us over here and there certainly werent any in the kiwi! give it a go,its well worth it. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Excellent value accommodation

Great resort. We booked last minute and were worried about where we would end up - no need to worry! Kiwi Bungalows is a lovely little complex, great pool, plenty of loungers etc. great poolside bar, Joe is cool! He serves, he cooks, he entertains he speaks excellent English and has the patience of a saint! Bungalows are clean, well laid out and each has it's own little terrace with table, chairs and loungers - great for couples but I would think a bit cramped for families as bungalows are all standard 1 bedroom. Only 15-20 mins walk (depending on heat and alcohol consumption) walk to centre of Playa del Ingles one way, and Maspalomas sand dunes the other. Fantastic base for a sunshine holiday, whether you want the hustle and bustle or a bit of quiet relaxation - you choose!!!

Joe - The main man
from A TripAdvisor Member
If you want to stay in nice apartments and are not fussed about living in luxury, the Kiwi Apartments are spot-on. The apartments are good and serve their purpose. The swimming pool is great and kept immaculately clean. The main attraction of these apartments though, is Joe who runs the pool-side bar. This man works from 10am until very late, cooking meals, serving drinks, washing-up, etc and you will struggle to meet a nicer man. Always happy, despite some of the idiots he has to serve and a fantastic character with an almost computer like knowledge of football. I would certainly not hestitate to return to the Kiwi Apartments should I ever be lucky enough to go to Maspalomas again
