Today we went up kitzsteinhorn. We caught 3 cable cars to take us 3029m of the 3203m mountain. Lee and the boys went to play on the ice beach but it was a bit slippery for the girls so we stayed in the dry. Lunch was at the alpincentre 2052m high in a lovely restaurant whilst watching it snow outside.

So today was an example of how wonderful my husband Craig really is. Many years ago in 1983 when we Eurailed our way around Europe our train stopped at a pretty place called Zell am See in Austria. We were going to Salzburg and Craig said at the time – let's go back and have a look at this town one day. So it was on his bucket list. We left Hotel Tauterman and it was a very pretty drive to Zell am See. ...

... to Zell am See to eat our picnic lunch along the Zeller Lake. When we got there it was 2:00. When we were done with lunch we rented an electric boat and drove it around the lake which took about an hour. It was so nice to just sit, relax and enjoy the scenery. We decided to walk through Zell am See and do some shopping. There was a Kiddie Fair going on with big blow up bouncy houses, bumper cars, train, bungee trampolines and other FREE rides for ...

... red ferraris that were zooming past people.

We then went up another spur road, that would lead us close to the Grossglockner. We tried to stop at a pretty lake to have lunch, but somehow we had left our sandwiches at home. So we continued on to the end of the road at Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Hohe. It was named that for the Emperor Franz Joseph who visited the spot in 1856. It was high on the side of a large glacier valley, with the Grossglockner directly across from ...
