Well, to start it off.. The directions the hostel gave we're ****.. But luckily I found my way from the station. It was a quiet little hostel and I was put into a room with a little Chinese girl who could hardly speak English. I spent my first day wandering around, gazing at the amazing shop windows and, without a map, found myself in the middle of the city ...

Danach gings weiter ...

I do think I will have earned a nice glass of red wine with dinner over the Atlantic.

We met a very nice couple who has been to the states many times for medical reasons and were very interested in knowing if the meal at the California Bakery was anything close to a real Thanksgiving in the states.

A little while in, I think once all the guests had arrived, the restaurant brought us out the first course: ...

    Best of the best

    from anonymous

Wonderful hotel in every facet except food prices. I don't for a second regret the extravagant room rates. Best hotel I have stayed in period as far as luxury hotels are concerned. Continentale in Florence was probably as good but more relaxed than here.

The pool/spa area is like another world. Wonderful steam room etc. Bath products all by Bvlgari (of course) but they are the best of any hotel. Daily fresh fruit in the room a nice touch.

Finally the hotel was in a good central location. Close to the Duomo and shopping. I can't wait to stay here again

A good hotel, not a great hotel

    from anonymous

Aesthetically this hotel is superb, with one major drawback it SERIOUSLY lacks atmosphere...... The attention to detail and some of the finishes are superb and the service is just as you could expect in one of Milan's best hotels, but we had the feeling that the hotel was an "experiment". All in all we enjoyed our stay - but would probably opt for the Four Seasons, which from past experience does not lack in atmosphere, the next time.

We couldn't pin down what the missing ingredient was -

·Location - good but not great

·Lobby - too small and fragmented

·Newness - strangely enough it felt as though we were in a showroom or architectural exhibition rather than a living hotel

If Ritz Carlton can remedy this it will be a great hotel! Hopefully they will learn from their (few, but important) mistakes for their other Bulgari properties while maintaining the great service and finishes - if so we'll be there........

    Bulgari is phenomenal

    from gmnewyork

Fantastic hotel, tres chic. Guest/staff ratio is very low; so service is fantastic. rooms are very modern, everything works & clean. hotel tricky to find even with car gps system. make sure you get breakfast included in your room rate, b/c very expensive.

The place to stay in Milan

    from inviso

The hotel took a bit of finding for visitors who drive but once you found it, it was a eye opener. From the modern decor in the lobby, lounge to the ultra chic rooms: everything is special in this boutique hotel. The gym is adequate , the indoor lap pool is impressive for its ambiance and the garden is a jewel in the hussle and bussle of the City. The good, the great and the poseurs all gather in the hotel in the evening for drinks and one looks out of place if not appropriately dressed. All told, it is Italian design at its best. Service in general is very good by international standards and amazing by Italian standards. Breakfast is daylight robbery price wise but what do you expect? For shopaholics, the hotel is unbelievably near the top boutiques. There is no better hotel in Milan if price is not a factor.

    Very Stylish

    from anonymous

We visited Milan for a three day city break. We booked the hotel via a special offer on Expedia and had a deluxe room overlooking the courtyard. The hotel is approached via a private road and although close to all the best shops, is extremely quiet. The reception area and lobby are beautifully done. The greeting by staff was great. Our room was not huge but had a superb bathroom, that incorporated a double ended bath, double shower and separate WC. The room and bedroom consist of pale wood, black granite and limestone. The Bulgari bath products very very welcome. The daily fruit and mineral water was a nice surprise. We used the swimming pool on a couple of occasions. Although small, it was great to cool down in after a day of sight seeing. We had dining in the hotel as well as breakfast. The menu and service great. A great trip and a wonderful hotel. We want to visit the Bulgari in Bali now!

Superb - Best of the Best

    from VJO

This hotel met, surpassed and overwhelmingly exceeded our expectations. We just spent a couple of weeks in the area for our honeymoon and had a chance to try several "luxury" hotels. By far, the Bulgari Hotel takes the prize - and is certainly worth the price. If service was ever not up to par when the hotel first opened, things have taken a dramatic turn. We were made to feel at home and were constantly attended to.

Service was impeccable - with zero attitude and genuine smiles. The room was wonderful (we were also upgraded when we checked in): contemporary design infused with loads of comfort. The bathroom was outstanding, with a large bath tub (definitely big enough for two) and a multi-jet shower. I could have laid in that bed for days without moving. Breakfast is one of the best in northern Italy. The spa, while somewhat small, is exquisite - and once again, service was outstanding.

You can relax by the fireplace downstairs in the evening and one of the attendants will prepare tea (from over a dozen choices) for you with several delicious snacks.

I should also mention that the airline lost one of our bags and the Bulgari staff made it their personal mission to track it down. Even after we had moved to another hotel in Florence, Bulgari insisted on handling the process and had the bag delivered to us within a couple of days.

We will absolutely return to this hotel whenever we are in Milano. I wouldn't even consider another option. Moreover, I would happily recommend it to all of my friends and family.

    100% design

    from anonymous

We spent recently a long weekend, from Friday to Monday, in this brilliant new hotel. This was by far the best hotel experience we've had for a long time.

The staff was very friendly and I don't think we saw a person that wasn't smiling. And we're not talking about mandatory smile but a happy smile. English with italian accent is always nice to hear.

We were about get an upgrade to a suite, it didn't work out but got a next-best room instead. Very nice, considering our "cheap" reservation.

The interior is 100% Citterio, right from the Maxalto and B&B catalogues. As Citterio is our favourite designer and we have plenty of his work in our home, it was truly a "staying like at home" experience. Bulgari and Citterio design are a perfect match, they couldn't have get better partnership.

The complimentary fruits and Voss was nice tough. A nice luxury chocolate every evening would make the service just perfect.

The breakfast was also superb. Perfect capuccino, parma ham and sausage, excellent yogurt. Quality ingredients without excessive fat or artificiality. But this is Italy so what else to expect..

We don't need excessive pampering (with a separate bag for tipping notes) so modern luxury and high quality without hassle is our preference. The staff took care of our taxi transport and luggage.

Now we just need to keep the Ritz-Carlton beancounters away and have a Bulgari hotel in every major city..

    Taste, Taste, Taste...

    from Chicag0Traveler3

Just came back from 3 nights at the Bulgari hotel in Milan and can I just say how fabulous everything was! We stayed in one of their six executive suites overlooking the Japanese garden, which included a front hall, a guest bathroom, a sitting room with loveseat, chair, ottoman, desk and plasma television, a bedroom with king size bed (dressed in Frette linen and down) and plasma television, and an expansive bathroom with marble tub, double sinks, rain shower and seperate toilet. Ammenities included Frette robes and towels, Bulgari produced toilettries, and a daily treat of bottled water and fruit. The bar is one of the finest; the wine list selective; and the restaurant's cuisine wonderful. Staff, aside from being beautiful, consistently goes out of their way to accomodate even the most minor of requests. I simply can't wait to return.

Great hotel but service is not yet polished

    from anonymous

I was at the hotel in late November 2004. It is a contemporary hotel which has been attractively designed and has been furnished the way you would expect Bulgari to. It has a fantastic location in central Milan (the Four Seasons is 200 yards closer to the shops) and is located in a blissfully quiet courtyard.

The rooms are a standard size for a European city and have good facilities, such as plasma TVs and mini bar. They are certainly very comfortable. There is a great bar at the hotel and the small spa is also good.

Despite the fact that the hotel is managed by Ritz Carlton the service levels are not quite there yet for a top luxury hotel. For example, when we arrived the concierge didn't greet us at the taxi or assist us with our bags. I presumed they were busy but once through the hotel doors the staff were waiting around seemingly with nothing to do. I fairness to them I didn't ask for assistance but I tend to expect this service at a top hotel.

I also asked for them to obtain tickets to La Scala when I return later in December but they were unable to assist me. I suspect concierges at other top hotels, such as the Grand or Principe would manage to get hold of them, even at the high price I expected to pay. According to the staff I spoke to they rotate jobs. So one week they are on the front desk, one week answering phones, one week as concierge etc. However, the young staff are friendly and fit with the environment.

However, these are very much small issues. It is still an excellent, modern hotel which I would happily recommend. The location is great and if you like chic, modern hotels you will probably enjoy this property. I enjoyed my stay.

    Beautiful, but...

    from anonymous

Stayed at the Bulgari Hotel in Milan for two nights two weeks ago. The hotel is beautifully designed and the rooms are well laid out and appointed. The Bulgari toilettries were also fantastic.

Have a drink in the garden in the evening and a swim in the golden mosaic pool in the basement. These are the two most spectacular and magical places in the whole hotel. Thumbs up for the designer!

The service while good is still a little spotty. I guess that since they have just recently opened, it will take some time before they sort things out. (Thus, I am only giving it 4 out of 5).
