... It helped to offset the tedium of 50kph.

We had been advised to overnight at a small campsite in Nires near Dej. It proved to be an interesting place. Firstly the approach looked very unlikely down a mud track.

... we didn't see much of the view. We stayed the night just over the top by a hotel. The road down the other side also twisted and turned but it was down through trees and valleys. The huge concrete Vidraru Dam is on this side too. Unfortunately we have no photos of this side as the camera didn't download properly and the photos were deleted from the camera before we realised.

[L] Tomorrow came and to our surprise the rain had not only set in but ... bugger us if the road was not lined with snow. Not warm in Romanian summer time, ps we are told by the locals winter is -20 or -30 deg so I think we are lucky. We assume the Top Gear Guys must have waited patiently to get the doco they shot as it was clouded in when we saw it at the height of tourist ...

... went to lunch at a nice place. I met some of the Romanians I met in Bucharest and Cluj. We hung out all day just seeing stuff and meeting more people. Not the longest of blogs. The people were so nice. The nurses all were offered jobs in Ireland so that was super awesome. I met people who are part of an NGO called AIESEC. I had never heard of it ...

... later, walked to the train station to find an ATM to take out Romanian leu, bought a few snacks to break up our big bills, walked back to the bus station, and got on another minibus to Sibiu.
