..........And they arrived, After little planning, lots of cleaning, and a hefty load of anxiety on Dan's side, Mom Dad, Harvey Nancy, Mr. and Mrs. Leffring (or however you personally address them) arrived!..... We don't think they knew what they were in for, but we had a lot of fun! The arrival was long awaited as Sarah edged herself over the airport balcony peering into customs.... (it was adorable). The ride in was smooth (and sadly enough something that would become all too familiar), the...
Buenos Aires, Argentina basa1126 Good morning everyone
I am typing this update from the Hilton in Buenos Aires. Yes, Amy and I made it here safely last night after a full day of travel. I am really coming to dread the travel days, at least the all-day travel days. They are more tiring than any activity we have done.
Anyway, before I talk about Argentina, I suppose I should finish up the Andean portion of the trip. As expected, Saturday in Cusco was not that interesting. We did walk around a bit, but stayed far ...
Buenos Tardes everyone
I think Amy and I have used more Spanish in the last couple of weeks than we have in the last 10 years! It's funny how some of it comes back to you and some doesn't. Certain words I haven't used in a long time came right back in my head and some words that I know are simple first year Spanish words I can't remember for the life of me. But it's actually kind of fun trying to make ourselves understood using Spanish as much as we can. For the most part it works.

We are halfway through our stay in Buenos Aires and I have to say, it isn't quite what we were expecting. Not that anything we have done so far has been quite what we expected, but probably more so Buenos Aires than anything else. BA is an interesting city. If you were just talking about the scenery, architecture and general attractiveness it would rank pretty high. It is a beautiful city in that way - lots of character and very well maintained, at least the areas we have seen. On the other h...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina derekjjensenGood morning everyone. It is Saturday morning around 10am here in Buenos Aires. I think that makes it about 6am in California. I hope everyone is ready to enjoy their weekend. I think football starts this weekend, right? It is hard to keep track of that stuff down here. The only sports that are on TV or the papers here at all are soccer and tennis. Soccer takes about 90% of the sports coverage and tennis the other 10%. If the U.S. Open was not going on at the moment with an Argentinian in the...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina derekjjensen It's Monday morning and our last day in BA. Amy and I are taking an overnight bus to Puerto Iguazu tonight. We should arrive in the morning and then spend the next couple of days at Iguazu Falls National Park. They are some of the most famous waterfalls in the world - probably at the same level as Victoria Falls and Niagra Falls. I think we are both looking forward to getting out of the city and back to some of the smaller towns.
Not a whole lot happened over the last few days. Saturda...
Hola!
The last few days we spent exploring Buenos Aires, after we took the ferry from Colonia in Uruguay. We think BA is absolutely a lovely and very liveable city - lots of leafy green bits, full of little cafes and fantasic choice of good restaurants! The first night we spent in a hotel in Recoleta, which is the nice and upscale shopping district in BA. Unfortunately our backpacks are already stuffed, so no chance for me getting a pair of really really nice tan leather boots from one...

... are not flat but are more like mauseleums or tombs and youcan loook inside and see the coffins. It is like a maze in there and is quite a weird feeling. After we left the cemetary we looked around the market and then crossed the bridge where there were lots of dressed up people doing a Patch Adams day to bring joy to people in hospital. All the cars were going past beeping their horns and the atmosphere was lovely with everyone just having fun. Across the road from here is a huge ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina edandali... walkers walking rich people´s dogs during the day and they go around with loads of dogs of all different sizes on leads in each hand. There are also fenced off areas in some of the parks where dog-minders look after peoples dogs - they are very chaotic and noisy with dogs running around and barking all over the place! We also went to see the Torre de los Ingles - a minature copy of the bell tower at Westminster complete with minature Big ...
