Today is the first day I felt good riding. I still feel good after 66 miles. So good I bought a 24oz Bud Light to celebrate. This morning things seemed very bleak. I woke up feeling like **** after a huge hill climb to the wet wreckage of heavy thunderstorms through the night and there was a dangerously thick fog for riding a bike on mountain passes with cars. The fog burned off in an hour and I spent 3 hours riding with temps in the 60's ...

We were up early-ish but got a later start than most in our hotel. Gates at the venue opened at 0600 and I was afraid everyone would be lined up to get in. So we waited. We left Charlottesville at 0900, arriving to our turn-off at 1000, but cops had it blocked. So we ended up going about 5 miles past the turn and back-tracking our way back to the line. ...

Had a good couple of days. A couple of Cheryl's high school friends, who are married, Molly and David Woody, joined us at the campground for lunch. They stayed on into the evening. We were joined later by Sue, Cheryl's sister and her husband Denny along with Cheryl's mom. Weather was good, we sat outside having a few drinks and laughing and carrying on. Very nice visit. Today, we went to Cheryl's mom's church, along with the Woody's, and Cheryl sister and Denny. ...

... if she was not sick. The hotel opened the pool, a bunch of the other hikers took advantage of the cool water. I stayed out, was more in a talking and walking around mood. Seems a few of the hikers are sick. Hopefully it clears up quick for everyone - seems when we go into town, hikers get sick - seems modern society is the problem, we all should stay out in the woods......we never get sick in the woods. Sunday, May 25 2014 Was hard leaving town today.....such ...

... Marcelo, 'Marcela' just cause that's how her accent is. We visited some fab places too but they will be featured in the next couple of blogs.

Marcelo and I really loved Virginia, there are beautiful rolling hills. It is green and lush and still warm in the summer and not too much snow in the winter. Also loved the old plantation style houses there.

A big thank you to our hosts for making us feel like family.
