... So today, up early, 07:30 because we need to be at Fishermans Wharf to catch the 10:00 ferry to Alcatraz. We need to walk, catch a street car and walk again. My feet are driving me crazy so I need plenty of time. Should be a great day today. Temperature expected to be sunny and 16 degrees. Had bought breakfast supplies last night from Walgreens so had a yoghurt and muesli parfait and headed off to Market Street to catch the F Line to Pier 33. Arrive with plenty ...

After a good nights sleep, (Don't know if it was the comfy bed or the fact that I hadn't slept in I don't know how long, because I am already over trying to work out the time difference, after all we travelled from 8.30am until 4am the next day in our own body clock and arrived here before we even left Sydney, so I don't even know what time or say it is tbh) any way we were all up bright and early and ready for our Alcatraz tour. ...

... architecture of the area; beautiful houses in San Francisco and they really go all out in this area for Halloween; see the photos of just one of the places. We continued walking to the Haight Ashbury area where we stopped for a big bottle of water and a beer for Barry and a glass of red wine for me. Again unique architecture and many unique people as well. Just too many youngish homeless people smoking stuff and asking for money, all have dogs and know each other and ...

Day 7 LA to San Fran Trip: San Francisco

A travel blog entry by chelseanoble90 on Oct 10, 2014

After waking up after a pretty late night, we packed up our tents for the last time and headed into the van. We left pretty early in order to get to San Francisco in good time. We said good bye to the mountains and headed for the city. We stopped of in a funny supermarket, Safeway. The staff there were unbelievably happy here.Like traditional over the top American happiness, it was so funny. After we picked up lunch, we jumped back ...

... there is an extra tax supplement paid by hotel guests to finance this!

The afternoon was all about our trip to the famous Alcatraz ( Island of sea birds) and former prison. A definate 'must do' and a great boat trip into San Francisco Bay, included as well!
On our way back to the hotel we stopped off at Pier 39 to see the sea lions basking on the pontoons.

      A great first day.
