      After leaving Ohio the weather warmed and the sun shown. Lots of construction on I-70. It was a long day. Tomorrow we cross Oklahoma. We plan on arriving in San Diego on mid-day Saturday.

      Beth is backpacking with a friend in Northern California and visiting Big Sur one more time before moving to Colorado. She is a busy girl!

      The wide and brown Mississippi River was the big event today ... though crossing it on the Beltway around St. Louis in 5 lanes of heavy traffic = a brief glimpse. Still it impressed me. Otherwise, even more impressive by virtue of their vastness, were the cornfields and, alternately, soybean fields that stretched on through southern Indiana and all across Illinois.       This resort is another one with a beautiful pool (and another one available to us through Resort Parks International).
      We went into Hermann, toured the Stone Hill Winery, the Hermann Wurst Shoppe, stopped in a Brewery (for Greg, of course), and then had a bite of BBQ. A good day, despite the oppressive heat (which seems to be the theme of this summer's travels!)

      It's hard to believe 5 days have passed since my last entry! We spent 4 days with friends in the far north west corner of OK, near the panhandle. We had nice sunny warm weather till Sunday when the arctic freeze hit them too! It dropped into the teens and I thought I was home.
