      ... reception did not know if there were any available and the boss was not there. What a way to run a hotel.

      Saw a sign for a guest house but could not find the street but went up a very steep road to a winery that advertised villas. They did rooms by the night and we had a lovely little one room cottage with a view over the Mississippi River. The winery had meals and we enjoyed our evening meal watching the sun go ...

      The wide and brown Mississippi River was the big event today ... though crossing it on the Beltway around St. Louis in 5 lanes of heavy traffic = a brief glimpse. Still it impressed me.
