... enticed us in- Elvis was rocking away so had a bite of lunch there . We put a nickel in the little juke box at our table and chose Neil Sedaka and The Platters- at least Willie did! Ventura is full of Thrift Shops! From Ventura we took the road called The Ocean Scenic Drive past lots of beaches and creek resorts with boats parked along side the houses. We stocked up with water at a Dollar Tree (pound shop to you and me). We saw evidence of a couple of houses being fumigated!! ...

After spending so many nights in the woods, oddly enough it was our final night in the tent that proved the scariest. We managed to leave bear country unscathed only to run into another mountain beast. We woke at 3 am to a very loud, very horrifying screaming sound. The sound came from within our campsite, and continued for a few minutes with evenly spaced apart screechy roars. I had heard this sound before, and I worried that it was probably a mountain lion. ... original outdoor weightlifting gym (think Arnold Schwartzenager and Gold's Gym), handball, street performers, artists, and of course shops. N bought sunglasses and S almost got a zip sweatshirt but the green one was all out of the smaller sizes.
