Apparently the man was a bit crazy, of his meds, or on drugs and tried to cut his wrists, He got offensive to the police, which is probably the reason they needed ten police men to hold him ...

... the sign to finish our journey. On the Pier is an 'End of the Trail' sign by Dan's Route 66 Emporium and Gift Store. We found it and that is, as they say, the End of the Trail, the end of our journey which started 23 days ago in Chicago and ended today in Santa Monica. In Billy Connolly's account of his Route 66 journey he said "Route 66 means many things to many people. Everyone who travels along it experiences it in their own unique way. For the Dust Bowl ...

But LA has actually been surprisingly special for us, and not just because a trip across the international date line meant we had two 20th Marches.
