Day 36: A night in the Dungeon

... at Elowah Falls. This was a fun little hike thru a very lush rainforest. Along the way the girls found a GIANT slug (later named “Slugga”) in the middle of the trail, and a white bodied snail, who apparently bit A. The falls were stunning. There were giant boulders at the base of the creek runoff, and the girls had a lot of fun playing “fairies” while I was down the creek taking pictures.

Our next venture that afternoon was the Ankeny Winery near Monmouth, Oregon. We met Betsy and Lana there and had a very nice visit along with a strawberry, cheese, and basil pizza. It was actually very good. For dessert we had strawberry shortcake and a chocolate port wine for dessert. The weather was wonderful and the sky was beautiful from the storm.

I was a little worried about the weather; dark clouds were trying to gather above me, but the rain didn't come. It was extremely windy and chilly on Cordon, competing with the whoosh of the speeding traffic. I was very aware that spring had arrived - daffodils smiled at me, cherry blossoms greeted me, tulip trees were starting to bud.
