    ... time to take a glimpse at the actual canals that gave it's name ,and wow again ! Fantastic artisan area of lovely canal side properties ..all different ..all qwerky ..all fabulous ...now travelling north towards Santa Barbara ...and I couldn't believe my eyes .....wonderful architecture ,amazing atmosphere ...and yes i want to live here too !     ... California. The views were actually pretty impressive, better than we had expected going through part of the Mojave Desert. The temperature also climbed as we went along, from about 76F when we left, up to a high of 99F. There was a lot of desert, but also lots of hills with mountains in the distance.
