... told them they were jerks and to leave it alone. Instead I went back to camp and felt guilty. I'm the jerk. It's Flag Day and my flag of choice is a giant banner that reads, "IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!"

I celebrated at Mom's with a good book, Lifetime movies (murder & mayhem, not sappy), and pistachio cake. She even let me have the gooey center pieces - quite possibly because she saw what happened when The Nightmare Nanny didn't get her way.

Here in Fort Madison, Iowa (my hometown) packing snacks for the trip. Costco visit (thanks Julie & Nevaeh) yielded enough granola bars and salted nut rolls to grow very tired of them forever. Along with 16 lbs of a homemade fruit & nut mix, and protein in the form of tuna, turkey jerky, and cheez-its. I give the cheez-its one ...
