Just grabbed breakfast at McDonald's and gas after 2 hours on the road already. Stayed in Knoxville TN. It's been a wet and beautiful drive so far this morning. Of course it's just now daylight and starting to rain. We can tell we have gone north as we started out about 68 when we left hotel and by the time we stopped for gas we were all digging our sweaters out of the trunk. It is now 57 and dropping. ...

The kids in Bristol are sharp as a pistol When they do the Bristol Stomp -- The Dovells, 1961 After driving the better part of the day, even conceding a relatively late start, we are still not quite out of Virginia as the first day of this road trip ends. ... you that know me, this is a HUGE challenge for me. I am the planner who plans everything. Our camper is self contained (generator, water, etc.). So, the worse thing that can happen to us is that we will stay in a Walmart parking lot!!!.

                ... went through tunnels in Virginia. Toll roads in West Virginia total $2.40. I struggled to find exact change since I still have pounds and euros in my wallet. We passed a truck fire, a convertible that looked like Laura Holt's car from "Remington Steele", a hot air balloon, and the winner for the most interesting license plate: OMGROBOT. All in all, a good first leg of the trip. We'll be taking a different route home, through Cleveland and Kentucky. For now, ...
