Jamaica, no problem!

... index there was a little steep, so as soon as the DJ arrived with his police siren sound effects and ruined the atmosphere we generally wandered elsewhere...

Jamaicans are without doubt the friendliest people we have met on this trip. So many times people just came up and shook your hands and just wanted to chat. There were never any hassles, we never felt threatened, and most conversations ended with them asking if we wanted a taxi, bangles ...

Some great things never change!

... br>My favorite place to relax in Mo Bay, as the locals call it, is in the Piano bar. Piano bar by night, Swim up pool bar by day, makes a great place to relax and take it all in. There is always a party of some sorts going on there, and it is a great place to meet new friends and chill out with your favorite frosty beverage.

In addition to the swim up pool bar, Sandals Montego Bay has two other ...

... also throws you around so you need some heavy duty safety equipment which I don't always carry in my pack. Also there's usually the problem of gaining access to a runway, especially difficult in these days of flight terrorism. But if the flight comes in over water... and I'm content to stay in the water instead of actually flying around... what's to stop me from a little bit of experimentation in turbulence? Of course there is the possibility of ...

... like cool weather. But it makes no difference when something's got you in its grips, a bug or virus or something. I hate that feeling, that out-of-body experience that puts you beside yourself with fear and anxiety, not to mention unease and disease. The weather actually serves as something of a consolation, not just that I'm not missing anything, but that the chill is not only internal. It's almost like the front came to Jamaica ...

one love

... climbed up- we took pictures to document the whole thing. Afterwards we relaxed in the beach area near the Falls and then drove to an outdoor restaurant that Joe said no tourists really go to. We had jerk chicken, pork and sausage that was grilled out right after we ordered it, along with some Jamaican goodies that I don't remember the names of. Anyways, I had just a quick minute to jot this down...more later.

Just Chillin in Jamaica, mon

... they have hamburgers, French fries and hot dogs? I don't know. It's just not right to eat such garbage in such a beautiful place. We opt for salad and grilled chicken. Gotta eat light, ya know! Even though the day looks overcast, I'm hoping that the sun will make an appearance soon so we can catch a few rays. In the meantime, we decide to walk off our "brunch", so we venture to parts as of yet unexplored by us. We're surprised to find a little ...

Along the lines of FATE again.

... had time on our hands to wait for Tia's fiance to get off work so we headed back to her hotel. This hotel Tia was at, Hotel Gloriana, was kinda cute. Didn't look like much from the street but once inside the gate there's a big courtyard area with a pool, bar and lots of rooms that open onto this area. Her room was main floor and opened on to the pool area too. So we sat on her verandah for a couple hours just talking, having a couple drinks and taking ...

'Jamaican' me feel like travelling again....

Sorry for the dreadful pun incorporated into the title of this section, but a trip to the Caribbean in January 2006 replaced the regular annual January ski fixture, and was yet another encounter with the American tourist, which was to be the last, for absolutely no reason other than ongoing commitments and diminished practicalities. I arrived on the island of Jamaica in poor shape due to a newly-broken collar bone, which I was ...
