... of visitors under control. Even thought it was Friday and low season, the car park was half full.

The walk was an easy one on a good footpath following the river Arazas. There were lots of waterfalls to admire on the way. The valley is glacial in origin and the scenery is SPEC-TAC-U-LAR!

Wooded slopes give way to towering sandstone rock faces, rising like the walls of a giant's fortress complete with buttresses, turrets and towers. These walls dwarf us ...

... Wednesday 4th June

We woke to sunshine and high temperatures (dare I say scorchio!!) so decided to do very little. After much pottering, we walked in to the village of Boltana to do some exploring and visit the Tourist Information office.

Very hilly all the way through and it was very hard going in the heat. We will start earlier tomorrow to try to get to our destination (Los Arcos) as early as possible. Its a similar distance to today at 21.1 kms. Tonight we met up with some other pilgrims ...

... the pilgrim on the route to Santiago. The shape of the church is octagonal and apparently is modelled on the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. A difference is the outer cloister that encompasses the church. It was open when I arrived so I was able to go in and see the interior and alter. Very beautiful. After that, it was time to hit the camino path again and head to Puente de Reina. I arrived at our Hotel (Jaku) at 3:20 pm and checked into my room. Ready for ...
