... the journey on foot, horseback or donkey.

The climb down was probably more difficult as it was primarily loose rock. While the day consisted of a lot of climbing in hot weather and I now have a blister - the views and the company of other pilgrims made it all worthwhile. I am now checked into a hostel in Puente la Reina, had a shower and am thinking about dinner.

... roads, depressing (even in summer), pay and park everywhere, and I believe there is even a **** tax these days. The place is just covered with litter with
roadsides, car parks, public places generally, needing cleaning. And those bloody hedgerows on rural roads. You get no view of the country side you are driving through. I could go on!!!

If you enjoy seeing the odd example of native fauna like we do, you will be disappointed. The only wildlife we saw ...

... br> Julie was as refreshed as I'd been invigorated by the short walk but we were soon in the bar and sitting on the Paradore’s first floor full length balcony gazing out onto our southern view as the twilight brought on an ever changing view of the mountains before and to either side of us. A couple of beers and then a delicious meal in the restaurant finished an extended but awe-inspiring day passing through the amazing Pyrenees.
