      ... charades with us when we were trying to figure out why we couldn't pay for our ticket (they have an Oyster card system there) and where to get off. We also had a whole restaurant, where we had lunch, join in to try help us order our drinks and then each filed past our table to say good bye and tell us something in Portuguese. Not sure why they would think we would understand that when we couldn't even order a simple drink. I bought my first holiday purchase ...

      So yesterday we left party central in Rio to fly here to Campo Grande via Sao Paulo.Flying also saved us a full day on a bus.The reason we have come here is to head into the Pantanal a huge wetland full of odd birds and mammals that we are hoping to see with a guide who is picking us up in the morning.We have just been into town to try and transfer him some money but of course today is a bank holiday and it's shut.Off to the ATM then.It's a huge ...

      ... on just up the street. After lying down for a little rest we went out to see what was happening in the street. Around the corner were hundreds of people on the street drinking and dancing. There was a festival going on as well with a huge stage with music and celebrations. It was cool to see all the locals having a great time. We also went out on their boat for some beautiful trips along the river, which is home to many families of copybaras, caimen and lots of birdlife.
