We completely jinxed it yesterday by stating we had been lucky with the weather. Rain, rain, rain today. In fact, so much rain that, we suspect, water is coming into the car pushed up through the crack in our wind shield. It will get replaced in the coming week.

Another beautiful morning in the campground... and a walking tour of downtown Asheville. Then the drive across the mountains into central North Carolina on I-40 -- crossed the Eastern Continental Divide and then a six-mile very steep downhill stretch. At Hickory I turned south and drove through the small town of Maiden to ...

... Barn. They agreed with the choice of the lot, except for the part about the duck hook drives, but guess we will take the chance. Thursday night, took Mom and Aunt Alice to dinner at our favorite BarBQ restaurant, Richard's, in Salisbury. The ladies love Rummikub, so our evening ended with 2 1/2 hours of the game. Luckily, I managed to win one game. They are SO competitive! Up early Saturday morning to leave for South Haven.
