Stayed over in Charlotte last night. It was our first experience with AirBNB and it went well. Jonathan and his partner were very nice and the room was clean and comfortable. ... was huge and as we drove down towards the rear, there were lots of RVs parked alongside a nice stream. We joined them and took the shuttle bus (I told you it as huge) and went to the casino. Walked around, visited the shops, checked out the restaurants in the casino and the adjoining hotel. Very nice grounds. We had a nice dinner, catfish, oysters and shrimp and a very poor Californian champagne. We watched the gambling but didn’t join in ...

I'm sitting in the Charlotte airport on my 8 hour layover, drinking a cold beer and reflecting on the last 10 years. This trip is far and beyond anything I've ever done before, and it is really exciting. Especially since I still don't have half of it planned yet!

They took me to NoDa: the hip neighborhood north end of Davidson Street (get it? No-Da!).
