... me was very helpful confirming that I was definitely heading at right angles to the correct direction. But I couldn't believe it when he told me the correct public path I should be on and the one on my map I was trying to find was in fact right beside his house! Bumping into three Swiss gentlemen for the third time in four days on our way out to see Land's End, just 1 1/4 miles from Sennen Cove.

... oven is temperamental at best so it was quite an achievement to get all this done in time. We had to keep mum out of the dining room as this was all a surprise for her but she needed to use the bathroom which would normally require a walk through the dining room or kitchen, both of which were out of bounds for her, we compromised by throwing a towel over her head and guiding her through! St Ives is the largest centre since I started a week ago in Padstow and being a Saturday the waterfront and narrow lanes of the old town were very crowded. As in Padstow, a lot of people just sat in seats or hired deckchairs on the edge of the harbour where they had a grandstand view of the boats sitting on the sandy bottom.

We were all nursing various degrees of hangover this morning after an unexpectedly heavy drinking session last night. We hung around the cottage all morning before we set off to visit Lanhydrock, one of many National Trust sites down in Cornwall.
