... and Rick, as my spouse, was invited to come to the Poetry Declamation competition one wintery evening.

While sipping a nice red in the headmaster's study afterwards and milling about with the parents and other spouses (all wives as it was a boys' school and I was one of the few women teachers), I noticed Rick chatting to Prince Michael of Kent.

I asked him later what they'd been talking about, assuming he knew who he'd actually been talking to. Wrong.

Our visit to Scotland has come to an end. This morning we packed up again and hit the road for a long drive back to Tenbury Wells.
