On Monday, we change our plans having spoken to well-travelled Peter the Austrian, and follow his recommendations to Toroni, one of three 'fingers' 50 miles south-east of Thessaloniki. We can park on the beach here, for free, and enjoy plenty of sun and sea in the evening and the next day before we move on.

On the 14th, we have a very long drive – we leave at lunch time and keep going until dark to cross the border into Bulgaria. We have been ...

Train got in at 8.15 in morning. Went to Eva's house to drop off bags, then on to Dareks parents apartment for beautiful Polish breakfast. Dareks dad, Joseph, took us to see his garden allotment. He has plums, apples, grapes, peaches, tomatoes, capsicum. Had beer and grapes on his allotment hut balcony. Back to Eva's place and then walk through Iława along ...

... the reduced speed limits, but not Chuck (much to the consternation of the drivers back up behind me). After being on the road for almost four hours, we decided to stop for lunch just outside of the old Hanseatic League city of Torun, the birthplace of Copernicus. We took a chance and stopped at a place called the DaVinci Hotel & Restaurant. It turned out to be quite a nice treat. The food was good, nice portion sized, and inexpensive. Tummies full, ...

... longer. So we are going to travel up to Gdansk and along the Baltic coast into the top of Germany then dropping down through Amsterdam.

So will still be home as planned.

We are staying at a TIR parking area tonight. It's in the middle of countryside, beside a lake, has a hotel with bar and restaurant and it's free to park here for the night.
