... to cook a meal for us. But we always had a choice of one dish – first day was Greek spaghetti (??) and the next day, they had some fresh octopus for Nick and they cooked me a piece of chicken. We had fried potatoes with every meal. In this particular restaurant, the host was in his late 80’s and never moved quickly. He spoke very little English and we speak no Greek, but we managed to work things out.

Liam of course could not be left out, and even though it was sunny insisted on wearing the new scarf which Michael bought this morning. He enjoyed the views, but did try to take a short cut over the fence one time - the great escape it was not! After that embarrassing interlude, Michael banished him to the rucsac for a while.

... to meet 3 hours later in our favourite bar, this way Joy isn't worrying about Michael being bored and Michael doesn't have to hang around in the cold waiting, then in we wandered....first room, quick glance quick chat and move into 2nd room......there we parted company.....a room full of Joys boyfriends!!! She stayed to make notes and drool, Michael moved on. This room contained paintings by Orazio Gentileschi, Guercino, Jusepe de Ribera, Lanfranco, Reni ...

... what has become our favourite bar. Terrible really - we've only been here 36 hours and already have a favourite bar!
Then back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. Michael actually fell asleep, but he is getting old you know! Anyway, we eventually wandered out again in search of dinner, something simple after last night's culinary extravagance, and chanced upon the Taverna degli Artisti. ... bill and aired our thanks for a wonderful dinner, we spent a while wondering around, watched the skaters on the open air ice rink and then took a small nightcap of grappa in our favourite bar, listening to the said band. Eventually at about one we headed back to the hotel to find that a bucket of ice containing a bottle of bubbly stuff and two glasses and some chocolates had been left in our room :-) well we couldn't let it go to waste!!
