... going up and down and
wonderfully preserved stately homes. Let down by the Musee we took
Ella to mcDonalds for Lunch and a Play...and of course free internet!
We were hoping to find a campsite tonight (as I smell) and found one
called 'Camping Ch-ti'mi'... And I think it was a joke as it was
really 'Camping ******** me' as we could not find it ANYWHERE! So the
Aires again it was!
up frosty and cold (trying to scrimp on what gas we have left!) we
got on the road to the biggest and best chateau of the Loire Valley:
Chambord! The pics say it for themselves really, but it was quite
amazing although very cold inside! They were not so clever as the
bigger the rooms/higher the roofs, the harder to heat! Was built in
the 15th ...
Once again a lazy start to the day but eventually we got on the road to Amboise! This is a very very pretty town with a lot more upmarket troglodyte living! Very hip. But the main highlight here was 'Clos Luce' Leonardo's last home for 3 years of his life which was a big ...
... had over 3 glasses...and that's before 11am! He took us through the incredible caves where barrels are left in a perfect temp to age. Really fantastic as it was a Chateau and all the stone was quarried from those caves, leaving tunnels and smaller homes, still had all the alcoves for pigeons to use as messengers. We got to our campsite nice and early to chill...this moving about can be hard ...
Something incredible about this place, I can see myself coming here again and again. The drive to Versailles was a good one , we checked in about 530pm, saw a lot of school kids getting off the school bus and leaving school. Arrived at the hotel Best Western Blois. It was a really nice hotel. We went for a really nice walk much to the kids disgust, we found the chateau de Blois which was beautiful, found a nice place for dinner, however they weren't ready, ...

We stayed at the Brit Hotel for an overnight stop without any prior planning. Wanted a clean, comfortable motel style with restaurant so that we would not have to go out in the foggy and cold weather. At check-in the receptionist was pleasant and spoke English to suite our needs. We were offered a package rate of EUR 111 for a double which included the room, dinner and breakfast. This seemed a good offer for our requirements and proved to be just that.
The experience of the hotel was enhanced by the assistance the receptionist/waitress provided by stepping through all of the dinner menu to make sure we understood the dishes - great service. Breakfast was simple and typical French, with German style fruhstuck additions.
The room was clean and quiet, if not a little cramped, but typical of this type of offering. Good value for money for the purpose. Appeared to be a popular business person hotel based on observation of clients on a week night.
