... Sunday's parade was interesting. A few tatty Yankee cars and a handful of Harley Davisons. Not quite what we expected. And then another long lunch in the sun at Cazes. Monday is market day in Castelnaudary. And it's a people's market, not a tourist market. And for dinner we went to Revel to the American diner.
Tuesday was windy and intermittent cloud. But in the morning we visited Revel shopping and it tipped down with rain. Over the other ...

... a U-turn and headed back. Truly it is hard to describe the scenery in this part of the world, no amount of photos do it justice. And simply having a car and driving anywhere in this area was such a fabulous experience.

It's a pretty place but ...

... Arreau. It’s not far along the valley to Avanjan, where we started our last climb of the day. The Col de Peyresourde (1569m) is another legendary climb. The gradient soon ramps up and stays fairly steady, though it eased off a little as we got higher up. The road takes us through open pasture, which allows us to see the spectacular views all around. We then had a fantastic 15km descent into the lovely mountain spa town of Bagnères-de-Luchon 113km (70 ...

Day 10 Lourdes

... run down and not loved as much. Fed and watered and off we go. 15.20 hrs made good time. Arrived tired. Oh oh. Lourdes has been taken over by cheap and cheerful tacky shops and disgusting cafes. What a sham. So many people believing in the legend of this place. All here for hope, to pray and cure. Wouldn't want to burst their bubble but? Words fail ...
