Historical Traveler Reviews of Bristol Hotel Zürich
Great location
from Travelin-Texan
We were in a quad room on the corner with 2 twin beds and a sofa double. The room was clean and spacious as was the bathroom. No air conditioning but they did provide a fan. We were on a busy street and it was noisy with the windows open, so bring ear plugs or ask for a room in the back. 10 minute walk from the train station and 5 minutes to the historical area. Wireless internet for 9 CHF for 30 minutes. Average breakfast buffet. In the room: hairdryer, toiletries, phone, TV, wonderful feather pillows, shower stall is deep enough to give a small child a bath. Friendly desk staff and a small elevator. Over priced as is the rest of the city, but I would stay there again.
Great value, great location

We travelled with two teens, got a great sunny quad room and the location was excellent. The hotel staff is incredibly helpful and can assist in numerous languages. 24-hour internet is convenient, and the rooms are spotlessly clean, modern and bright. Breakfast is generous and varied: rolls, croissants, fruit, yogurt, eggs, jams, etc. Would definitely go back.
Helpful staff and efficient service

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in Bristol. After a terrible experience with some arrogant French in Paris, Hotel Bristol was a complete paradise. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had excellent excursions based on the recommendations of the ladies at the reception. The rooms were simply furnished but very clean. Fortunately, being close to the center we were able to walk to most tourist attractions. We had a very comfortable stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Exceptional value in an expensive city

We paid approx. $120 a night based on a special holiday offer. We easily could have paid twice as much at what appeared to be similar hotels in the same area. We believe this was a great value, and would be a good deal even at what appears to be a more typical rate of around $150-$200/night for such a hotel in Zurich. The location is great - close to the train station and central area, but not stuck in the noisy bar area or above a restaurant.
Our room was clean and reasonably up to date (not worn) with a good shower (can be difficult to find in Europe). The hotel is not luxurious but we had no complaints. The hotel staff was helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was nothing great, but adequate.
We recommend considering this for business or pleasure in Zurich.

We stayed in Zurich for 3 nights. We wanted a hotel that was not too far from the main station, not too far from the city centre, cosy, reasonnable priced and clean. We found it with the Hotel Bristol. I highly recommend it. The breakfast was wonderful and the ladies on reception were friendly, polite and always helpful!! If I was to go back to Zurich I would definetely stay there again!
We found the Bristol very convenient

We stayed at the Bristol twice, at the start and end of our rail tour of Switzerland. The best thing about the hotel is its location. It is a short walk from the main station and close to shopping and the old town. We were able to walk to most places. We found the double beds a tight fit in the small rooms we occupied but the bathrooms had showers that worked very well. Breakfast was adequate. All in all, we felt that we got what we paid for; no more, no less.
Good choice for the price

We stayed at the Bristol this past February. The Bristol is a short walk from the train station, Swiss National Museum, Hofbahnstrausse.
Our room was bright, clean and roomy ( we had a triple). The bath was nice, there was no tub and the shower stall was a little small. The staff was always friendly and helpful. You can buy tours right through the hotel. The breakfast was very small, just cereal, yogurt and croissants. You can pay extra and get eggs, omellettes, etc. We think this was a good choice for anyone on a budget as Zurich hotels are very expensive!
Pleased with the location

Taking a short break with two young teenagers, we wanted a central but quiet location. The Hotel Bristol was ideal as easy walking distance from main rail station. Although Zurich's tram system is fantastic we could easliy walk to the lake and the Old Town ( where most of the restautants are)
Family room was fine if a little basic, breakfast was good and plentiful. The well advertised friendliness was a bit lacking the weekend we were there but overall we were pleased with our choice.
Quite rooms. good breakfast, good location

We stayed for 1 night only (stop over between France and Italy).
Walking duistance (5 mins) from station. Romms were clean and tidy (a bit small)... but comfortable with a good sized (for european 2.5/3 star hotels).
Reception staff was "effecient" (to put it nicely).
The best thing was that they had cereal, real milk, fruit, eggs, and yoghurt for breakfast. Not sure why, but after some weeks of simply bread for breakfast at every other hotel... we really enjoyed the Bristol's breakfast.
I would reccommend the Bristol for a stopover like we did... kore than adequate.
No Frills B&B
from Padthma
Hotel Bristol should be classified more as a B&B rather than a hotel. There was no air-conditioning in the hotel and when I was there in early June, it was very hot and my family could not sleep at night. We were only offered a fan that did not function very well. The staff actually said that we should have been willing to spend more money and should have stayed at a 5-star hotel if we wanted air-conditioning. We had booked a quad room but the room looked more like a double room with 1 double bed and 2 single beds. Did not look anything like the room shown in the internet. The staff did not live up to the expectation as well. The description of this hotel in most websites mentioned ...."this hotel is known for its friendly staff". Do not know how they had come to this conclusion. The hotel may be central and close to town but that's all there is to it!
