When I came home from work, I realised that everyone in the house had thrown out all of my food from the fridge (presumably because it went off while I was away). This annoyed me. I purposely bought un ripe veggies so they would still be good when I got home. I planned for this. Not happy Jan.
I got a pleasant surprise tonight when Martyn finally called me and I got to chat to him for a bit. Turns out that he is now an Australian. Best day ever.
It was time to head back to Belo Horizonte today. I enjoyed my time in the bush, it was nice to get out of the city for a while, but I'm ready to be back in the big smoke now. I've developed a throat infection over the last few days that is really hurting today, so first mission when I get back is the farmacy to pick up some antibiotics.

... was setting off fireworks, tooting car honrs, yelling, screaming and chanting. The atmosphere was insane. The favela that I can see from my window was delivering the fireworks to rival Sydney at NYE. Just insane.

We knew it was going to be an unrealistic long shot, but we went to the tourist information centre at the market to see if we could pick up 25 tourist guides and city maps to include in the welcome packs. Needless to say, 25 was pushing it a little too far. We got 3 each. Well it was a start at least. We did get a tip that there was a much bigger tourist information ...
