... to pass through the Panama canal. The lowest toll ever paid was by a man in the early 1900's who decided to swim the length of the canal. He is the only person in history to ever do it. He managed to complete it in 10 days and they charged him 36 cents. I told the kids you couldn't pay me 10 billion dollars to do that...



We also got to see the doors for the new locks that they are constructing... The new doors can't be moved by crane they are ...

... d brought along?.At Gatun Lake they asked us to pick up a buoy and wait maybe an hour for our lock schedule time. Joe once again jumped on the huge buoy and we tied on. I prepared to go for a swim ,when suddenyl the motor catamaran next to us upped and left and we were told to follow.
The lock was great ,but the catamarn wasn't helpful at all, they dropped and line in,broke their bow line (incredible bang when it happened), as the lines are 125-150 feet long and need to ...

I began walking to the bus stop after my discussion with Mrs. Unhelpful. I was laughing about just telling her yes and soon I found myself at the bus stop. Then a bus came and the door man said "Panama?" and I said "Yes". All of a sudden I abandoned my helter skelter plan of wandering around EL Vale, and Coronado; I was heading to the city. I needed some new shoes and a few other things and I reasoned that I would get there with enough time to figure out where to stay. I felt good ...

... the entrance to the bay with a fort protecting the town, which is still about the same size with 2 or 3 streets and 6 blocks of housing. The stone for the fort is reportedly brought from Spain as ballast on the journeys from Spain, with the galleons going back full of treasure, vegetables and fruits from the new contintent.
The church holds the "Black Christ" which was also brought from Spain, and when they tried to move it to another to another twon the history says ...
