Yep, we went to Bosnia

... buildings without bullet holes are new or restored. Even our hostel building had bullet holes in the side (you’ll see a picture I took from our balcony of our hostel room). It’s cool to see the contrast of a new building sitting right next to a bombed out building. Or a brand new Audi car parked in an abandoned building full of bullet holes.

There were more stray cats and kittens in this city than any other city we’ve seen before. They were ...

He slammed the door in my face and began to back up.

It was one of those moments where you just want to yell, "Oh hell the f*#k no" and I wasn't letting him move without me. I took the palm of my hand and started banging it on the door and yelled, "hey, hey, hey..stop that bus" in German. He stopped and actually let me on but with a lot of fanfare of course. He ...

High Diving and a dodgy eye

... said dont worry, no problem. When the nurse was closer I realised there was no needle on the syringe, and it was just full of saline.

So the Dr squirted in some eye drops then the entire syringe full of fluid to give the eye an industrial strength cleaning and... it felt better!

A couple of days later I woke up and checked my eye, something felt funny again. There was a sharp and dark little rock of something sitting in the corner of my eye. That hopefully was the culprit.

Magnificent Mostar and the ride to Dubrovnik

... the next morning from different accounts of different people, lying down inside the cave just chilling, freezing to what seemed like certain death in the cold cold night at Mostar, my arms being inside my t-shirt while being kept warm with the help of a very sweet hug by Emma from Australia. I remember being very happy to come back to hostel to some manageable temperatures. I was leaving the next day anyway, so no stone was left unturned to create a memory of Mostar (as if I ...

Mostar and tour around the area

... aroud your feet as the water was so pure and clear we just dont have water like that in the UK it is really clear. I managed to climb up on to a rock which was situated at the base of the falls which gave me a great view of the falls which was pretty awsome as well. After mucking around in the water for a while we got to a rope swing in the river, my first attemped on the sing was fine but my second one I managed to damage my finger and loads of blood was poring from it and had ...

Mobetta Mostar

... to the local museum recommended by Madja but curiously absent from the guidebooks was also quite interesting. The best part was the short film which featured the heartbraking shelling of the bridge over months, it's inevitable and dramatic plummet into the river, and the triumphant rebuilding and opening - a real touching example of the trivails and realing that this region has gone through. Once again, the people seemed to have emerged from all this ...

A welcomed change of scenery

... buildings that looked like they were bombed just yesterday. It truly was amazing to see. I have never been in a town like this. You could walk through some intersections and see half a dozen buildings destroyed by the war. SOme were missing roofs. Others were missing walls. Others just had a wall and nothing else. One building that stood out was a high rise where every single window was smashed by gunfire. The war ended close to 15 years ago yet the ...

... in the war), all very pleasant and touristy. Tried to get a drink at a non touristy looking bar, and all went well a local talked to us which was great, but then he started asking for money which just made us finish our drink quickly and head back to tourist land. And the beer was no cheaper than in old town centre. Very tired so early night before 7am bus the next day. Overall one of the most interesting destinations on our holiday.
