... the four of us walked to the palace, it was absolutely beautiful and masterfully crafted. We took the a guided tour of the interior of the palace (the only way you can see inside the palace.) The paintings, carvings, fabrics, and views from the windows were breathtaking. The craftsmanship was tremendous. After the tour, we ate a quick bite in the shade of an old church just a short distance from the castle, and we drive back to ...

... grate a bit, but my has been magnificent, thank you Brett and Susie for my 49 th birthday present. Our only equipment problem was one flat tyre. Our panniers have been great too, and carried everything we needed. John's packing is a little chaotic, but I'm not wearing his clothes, so it doesn't really matter. Take 2, then there were roadworks and our path was barricaded off, so we had to do a detour up around the industrial section of town. We thought we had a relatively easy day of 64 kms, but two more detours later, and by the time we reached Mulhouse we were over 70 kms. Seven extra kms doesn't sound much, but to us it seemed quite a bit, and today we had the strongest head ...

... in farmers fields. The other strange feature here are the lakes and ponds. This region has over 1,000 of them. Black brackish holes some with boating, fishing and some with gorgeous houses built next to them. We saw an amazing one at la Mer. Two lakes and a sunken swimming pool, mill wheel and landscaped gardens. I was so in ore I forgot to get my camera out. In fact I forgot it most of the ride. It's a very relaxed and quite area of France most have forgotten about. This ...

... the exceptions. As John also said, there's not much to write home about here. Quite a few of the shops were closed today as France's official sale period starts tomorrow. Mulhouse is a bigger place, and it is our last night for our ride, so we may have a look around there. There is also a car museum there which John might enjoy, while I have a shop. We are still tight with our luggage until we finish our hike around Mont Blanc, so I'm hoping there's not too much that I ...
