... The guys gave us a lot less **** about our driving then we expected them to. Hats off to them. We were driven home again and my grandfather had a fantastic meal waiting for us. Walked to the old harbor and had an ice-cream from the little quick fix stand where they only speak French, it's like an old tradition. ... and make it myself. I headed to the park next to the parliament buildings which has a hill that overlooks some of the city and the Alps in the distance. Apparently the locals like to eat here too. And talk about the Swiss and their timing, because at 11:59am, 5 or 6 groups of people all arrived to eat their lunches. It was funny to see as an outsider.

I then decided I had seen what there is to see for free in Bern and headed to the train station to catch a train to Lucerne.

... in Gimmelwald, we would have just been soaked. If we ever make it back to Switzerland, I know we will try to visit the Alps again, with hopefully better weather.

As Merilee mentioned in the blog, Switzerland runs on their own currency. After this we would have the convenience of using the same currency for the rest of our trip. ATMs certainly make travel easy as we never had to deal with any currency exchange offices.
