Brisbane Marriott Hotel

Singapore Air expertly delivered us to Brisbane last night during a wicked thunderstorm. The 8 hour trip was quite pleasant. Had a nice lunch, did a little reading, watched some tv, napped, and enjoyed being pampered. After a brief and easy trip through Customs, we got to the hotel around 9:00PM to find nice bottles of wine in our rooms. Because of …
-Steve showed me around the party places, China Town (St), dwntwn, lagoon and market
-big hostel room with kids playing music in preparation for nights out, no bowls or forks in the hostel, never was around for our free welcome drinks but had free sausages

Really great hotel at one end of the city centre. Walking distance to everything in the city centre. Lots of charm. Super helpful employees, willing to go the extra mile for you. Very friendly and pleasant. Room was great, except in the morning - room 2518 is right under the Executive Lounge so every movement in the lounge comes through the ceiling in the morning.

Historical Traveler Reviews Brisbane Marriott Hotel
A typical Marriott Hotel
This is an ok hotel. It is located on the fringe of the downtown area, about half way between the downtown shopping (10 minutes walk to Queen Street Mall) and the Valley (night club area). It is on the main road into town from the airport. The hotel is one block back from the river -- there are 2 apartment buildings (called the Admiralty Buildings, each over 30 stories) between the Marriott and the river. So, from my room, the river views are not as good as the Expedia pictures show. To see the river, you have to look between the gaps in the buildings. I think that people living in the apartments would have a good view into my room.
There are good restaurants nearby.
The pool (on about the 6th floor) is half indoors and half outdoors, and is an attractive pool.
Overall, a nice hotel, but not the best location compared with other hotels in Brisbane.
A Great Place to Stay
This hotel, though on the expensive side is one of the cleanest, well present hotels around. They offer discounts to serving members of all defence forces. They have the best salon in the hotel that has wonderful massages. Will definat;ey stay here again.
Have recently returned from 6 nights at the Mariott, we payed for an executive room which gave us access to a separate lounge and included buffet breakfast, evening drinks and nibbles, all the staff in the hotel were very helpful, we had a lovely view of the river and spent time watching the river ferries plow up and down, situated within easy walking distance of the shops and many restaurants around the river, valets were very helpful providing maps and directions. Mariott have just introduced new beds, this bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. When we stayed there were a fair number of tourists and not just business men at the hotel, would stay here again.
This hotel was allocated to my family (2 children and husband) via Qantas holidays for our 4 night stop-over in Brisbane.
Firstly the hotel is immaculate with helpful friendly staff but I would not recommend it for families as the cost of meals is VERY Expensive!!! There were no special deals for children apart from a separate menu which was almost as expensive as an adult menu and therefore I was very dissapointed with that aspect. I would highly recommend it for the business traveller though and this did seem the majority of the clientelle at this hotel. We felt quite out of place here as I did not observe many families here whilst we were here. It costed 6 dollars for a yogurt!!!!! I wont bother mentioning costs of other items. See for yourself. The chain on the door was broke on arrival and we asked three times for it to be fixed and it was never done. I expected more from the Marriott!
On a more positive note the hotel is ideally situated for central Brisbane however i would not recommend this hotel for families.
Very nice hotel
we are always staying in this hotel when we have a stop-over when we arrive from Europe and continue on other flight into Australia. Very nice rooms. Friendly people, good service ! Close to river where you can have a nice walk. Good restaurant. Only thing when you are here on a Friday- or Saturdayevening there is a large (seafood) buffet and no a-la carte. My husband doe not like seafood so much and we did not want to go to another place because we were very tired. So, the only other thing we could take was roomservice. Very nice brekafast buffet. Lot's of choices !
Excellent choice in Brisbane
Have stayed at this Hotel five times since it opened, both on business and on a vacation trip with the entire family. The service at the Hotel has consistently been excellent during each stay. The rooms are very clean, the view in all directions is very nice. There is a nice pool and workout area, as well as a full service spa. The concierge lounge has a well balanced selection for breakfast and pleasant snacks and drinks during the day.
The restaurant serves well prepared and fresh food. I particularly enjoy the seafood buffet during certain nights. The food is refreshed frequently, avoiding some of the potential food quality issues buffets suffer from at times.
The location may have advantages and disadvantages depending on the needs. If one is driving to/from the airport and to various destinations it has very easy access to all major routes, while being downtown. As far as the business, shopping and entertainment accessibility is concerned, it will require some walking ( 5 to 20 city blocks depending on the destination). The main shopping area is about six blocks away. The water taxis (city cat and others) are very close (2 minute walk) and most of the attractions along the river can be reached easily using one of those.
Overall, for me, this is the home away from home when in Brisbane.
My partner and I were staying in Brisbane for two nights at another hotel. Having had a very bad experience we chose to end our stay and shift to the Brisbane Marriott Hotel. Our Taxi took us to the rear entrance we're we were surprised to have our baggage removed from the boot of the Taxi before we had stepped out. We informed the gentleman that we realised it was too early to get into a room but would like to check in and leave our bags to return later. He informed us that it was Melbourne Cup day and they were hoping for a 100% check in prior to the start of the race. We took the lift to the Hotel lobby, checked in with the very friendly staff and were told our room was ready and we could go straight up with our bags to follow ASAP. We had not been in the room 5 minutes when our bags were brought in. The room was excellent very clean and well presented. We celebrated the Cup in our room and then chose to go for a walk, on our return we thought we had entered the wrong room as the curtains had been closed, the room tidied and chocolates placed on the pillows of the bed. This is a small gesture which made a huge impression on us both. The bed was very comfortable and overall the staff the best I have experienced and would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Brisbane.
Beautiful River view from our room
We started our 2 week Australian trip at the Marriott in Brisbane for 2 nights and were so happy with it that we decided to spend out last night there too. Looking over the Brisbane River and watching the River Cat ( their river taxi) go by was beautiful. It's easy and convenient walking all over and close to the stores and parks and River Cat and restaurants. We look forward to returning soon.
Stayed at the Brisbane Marriott in September 2004 for one night during our 2 week vacation in Australia. Of all the hotels we stayed at, this was the best. The staff was exceptionally friendly and eager to help in any way possible. The room was rather large and nicely appointed. The bathroom had a seperate bathtub and shower. One wierd thing about it, which apparently in Australia isn't all that out of the ordinary, is you have to put a room key in a panel by the door for the lights and air conditioner to work - make sure you get 2 keys. The only negative thing I can say about the hotel is its location; it's on the north end of the downtown area and the Queen St. Mall and South Bank area (where most of the sights and restaurants in the downtown area are) are on the south side, so you may have alot of walking to do like we did. Regardless, I would't hesitate to stay here again. The rates are also resonable; we only paid about $125 US.
