... collapsing into bed and reluctantly setting my alarm for 5am the next morning.

When the cute jingle of my morning alarm woke me up, I contemplated rolling over and ignoring it, but a voice inside told me not to waste the opportunity. I cooked an egg faster than I ever had before, slapped an espresso together on the stove and inhaled a banana, soon after setting out to hop on a boat again to witness the sun creep over the ...

As the bridge was very crowded we decided to sit on a dock right beside the bridge because we figured that we would be easier to spot. Anna walked right by us so we had to race after her. Once we found her she started ...

      Leaving Venice

A travel blog entry by sandemac on Nov 22, 2013

We loved Venice and our hotel room. We have a sleep in and our last yummy crossaunts. We pack up and leave at 11am to some more flooding and a beautiful sunny day. We catch a boat to the train station and have a coffee whilst waiting for the train. We have numbered seats and wifi. It's a really nice train. They served wine and nuts. The speed of the train flashes up on a sign at the end of each carriage. ...

... island in 1326 because they were considered a fire hazard in the city. What a neat place. Dianne and Rooney had a great time shopping while John and I parked ourselves at an outdoor cafe by the canal and sipped on wine with a few nibbles for over 2 hours. It was great, shady, nice views as we watched the commerce of the canals. I needed a bank today so we went back to San Marco Piazza and shared the square with about 1000 or so people. After the bank, we all had ...

You get quite a surprise when you step out of the train station in Venice. You are instantly greeted by a view of the Grand Canal which is the widest canal in Venice. Big boats move down it along with the gondolas but the gondolas tend to stick mainly to the smaller canals that run through the town. Very tall bridges cross the Grand Canal in only 3 or 4 places so that there is enough room for boats to pass underneath. The taxis in ...
