      ... a bit rocky and I was clinging to the bench for dear life!) she let them try to stand up on top of the back of the boat, and learn to row like a gondolier, which requires paddling, then using the oar as a rudder, since the paddle always stays on the same side of the boat, and gondoliers row alone.       ... library within the palace, but unfortunately we really didn't get to see anything as it appeared to be being prepped for a private event. None the less the room was very impressive with dark woods and marbles and every available inch covered with frescoes. Then we ran into Saint' Marc's just before they were closing.       ... coming to Venice influenced the buildings. He also points out many of the palaces dotted around Venice. It is lovely slowly cruising along the canals at this time if day; the sun is starting to set and there are still remnants of fog in the air (it was foggy again today). The light is beautiful.
