... beach big, sandy and empty. took a few photographs.
Monday 19 got a boat "Serenity" from Seahouses to the Farne islands, about a 1 1/2 hour journey, saw lots of seals and the Longstone lighthouse where Grace Darling lived and rowed out to save the passengers on a stricken vessel which had drifted onto the rocks. no photos because I forgot the camera!
Sorry it took so long to write. The first few days here have been busy. I finally made it to Scotland. I had a pretty good flight, with a hectic transfer in Heathrow. The town of Dalkeith is cute with many pubs, take out shops and stores. It is just up the drive from our house so a very short walk.
The people at the house are a blast and I'm making many friends. My roommates are a lot of fun ...
... we went a walk with Emma along the cliff top , again the weather was being very kind to us. On Tuesday we went into Edinburgh and had a wander round the Edinburgh fringe up the Royal Mile, the Pleasance, back along Royal Mile and then down to the gardens it was a lovely day. We then droped Susan off at Marions before we drove back ...
Dunbar, Scotland, United Kingdom 1073-2... I’ve enjoyed our beautiful landscape of blues and greys and golds, goodbye cute little towns full of cobbles and closes, goodbye food that pushes the limits of my gag reflex, and goodbye to good friends that we’ve grown to love. I sincerely hope that we will return and glean a bit more of your richness.
... seemed more homey? I don't know if that's the right word or
not…okay so I know this is not a great comparison but the Highlands are
like the Rockies and the Borders are like the Appalachian
mountains…maybe that's why I
thought they were homey, because they reminded me of the North Carolina
landscape…but it was still distinctly, beautifully Scottish...
... I am learning a lot from them. I made a presentation/video of different things about Wisconsin from the State bird to the weather to sports in Wisconsin to a couple of pictures about me. I showed it to the P3's and Tuesday I will show it to the P1's. They loved it and found it interesting. They thought the snow was cool and they could make wonderful snow angels. I told them that there was about two feet of snow if not more and back home you all are tired of it snowing. What ...
Dalkeith, United Kingdom lizz921... use of it and took a ride to the town of Rosalyn today, south of Edinburgh. Beautiful old little village, also the site of an interesting old little church, dating back to 1442. Those who have read the Da Vinci Code may remember that it is referred to towards the end of the book... It was a good chance to take a ride out of town to see the countryside a bit, as this visit to Edinburgh there was not ...
Edinburgh, United Kingdom vanessa82The Hockey trip to Edinburgh, what can i say it was a great laugh, played a bit of hockey drank a bit too much, the usual for a hockey trip! We played Glasgow first and it ended a draw, then on Tuesday we had a day off matches so we just had fun supporting ...
Edinburgh, United Kingdom shellys... eat your heart out. Leading up to it from the palace of Holyrood is another tourist must see - the Royal Mile - a crooked and ancient road with steep and narrow pedestrian 'closes' that finger off it, like ribs do a spine. There's also the highly rated Scottish Museum, Holyrood Palace, the eerily paved-over Mary ...
Edinburgh, United Kingdom technotrekker... look at all the pages because they all have different pics on them. And if this show ever comes to where you are: see it! After the show I came home and went to bed, and now I am up at a somewhat decent hour ready for more adventures. Not sure where today will take me. There is half price ticket booth that sells tickets for same day shows, so I think I will check that out and see if anything looks interesting. I'll probably end up at the Royal ...
