A two day conference in Peebles (Scottish Borders) encompassing muchos quality food, and my birthday on the Thursday. Add to that a plush room on the first floor overlooking the Moorfoot Hills... the view as the sun was rising, and the view as the sun ...
Peebles, Scotland, United Kingdom sianethArrive in Belford after a 5 hr car journey, including a beef baguette in a nice pub en-route. This is already sounding like "small earthquake in Uraguay - not many killed" Found the cottage and unloaded the car.Really nice place; Ric*********** stayed in the vilage in 1966; probably not much else happenned since then. Drove into Bamburgh and strolled along ...
Belford, England, United Kingdom tim_smallwood... we hang out together alot. The locals here are super friendly for the most part. We went into a local pub the first night. It was race night and the pub was crowded with people placeing bets. People came up and introduced themselves, even explaining how the race night worked. The next night we went to a pub that had karaoke which was a blast. I danced with men in kilts and they taught us some Scottish ...

Dunbar, Scotland, United Kingdom 1073-2... seemed more homey? I don't know if that's the right word or
not…okay so I know this is not a great comparison but the Highlands are
like the Rockies and the Borders are like the Appalachian
mountains…maybe that's why I
thought they were homey, because they reminded me of the North Carolina
landscape…but it was still distinctly, beautifully Scottish...

Kelso, Scotland, United Kingdom deacnightowl88... and the next it was rainy. We left about four thirty and headed back to the palace for a house party. The house party was themed The Ridiculously Good Looking Party. We got to dress up in our craziest outfits and just had fun as a house. I definitely dressed up crazy as well as others. Some of the outfits were a little to crazy, but fun. We all had a good time and it was so much fun. I remember everything about the night, but the saying What happens in Scotland stays in Scotland ...
Dalkeith, United Kingdom lizz921Hello all, A bit of a quieter day today, overcast and a bit drizzly rain. Caught the public bus 42 into town to trial out the local bus service before I take one out of town to visit my great aunt Margaret tomorrow. Met two lovely early retired couples on the bus, also visiting Edinburgh from Cornwall/Devon. Enjoyed chatting and sharing stories on the ride into town! As I had a day bus pass (£2.50) I ...
Edinburgh, United Kingdom vanessa82... well know, this is the first 100% legit and full-time job I've held in a very a long time. Not only that, I'm straight back into the IT industry that I moaned about so regularly during the travels which just confirms that some clowns never learn. My ears are burning with chuckles from all parts of the globe - yet another lost antipodean returning to the motherland in search of hard work and the meaning of life! Anyway, so far it's been a pretty sweet gig and on the whole a ...
Edinburgh, United Kingdom technotrekker... Glasgow and Glaswegians, Dundee in general, the culture. It's nice to see that I've slotted in pretty well here the past two years, seen some places, picked up some of the language and so on. Really good night altogether. Definitely recommend going to The Stand if you are in Edinburgh. The whole evening was interesting in the sense that I liked seeing how networking is so important in tourism and hospitality. You meet people from different tour ...
