    ... ago. A renovator’s paradise!!!!! ( But no renovators in sight.) And cafes with food half the price of the flashy ones on the sea front. An interesting place to wander.

    ... a large glass of cold beer. Lunch over, my rough Turkish negotiates our way to the nearest pharmacy and then directed to the local hospital where the doc sees just a scratch, orders some betadine and I’m on my way. The evidence of me writing this now proves that all is well.

    We visit Salamis and some amazing Roman ruins for dad [complete with forum, baths and theatre] and a great swim for Amber. Enough adventure for one day, we retire.

    ... also enjoy a glass or two of Efes. As darkness came in it was time to light the candles and and also the mosquito stick to ward off any flying bugs. A lovely chilli supper with wraps, rice and salad was followed by lemon ice cream and some fantastic lokma....or in greek loukmades! Terribly fattening so the ladies say but who cares! A really nice supper was helped by a nice bottle of red and finished off with a single malt and brandies.

    ... with vendors selling local delicacies and all kinds of touristy products, but there are also competitions taking place, sailing races, local exhibitions of pottery, fireworks and much more.



    Personally noise and crowded areas is not my piece of cake, but at least before flying back home I dropped by for a while just to get the feeling ...

    ... and gymnasium surrounded by a colonnaded courtyard. Also, beautiful marble figures (with their head's broken or destroyed) line the baths. Right next to the gymnasium is an open stoa overlooking the courtyard. The baths are early Byzantine (likely part of Constantine II rebuilding of the city 337-361 A.D.) while the gymnasium and courtyard are second century. A lunar-style latrine is adjacent to the opposite the pools in the courtyard that could seat ~40 people at ...
