We've been back on the boat for a couple of weeks after a quick trip home, and have traveled from Isle of Palms just north of Charleston, SC to New Bern, NC. Along the way, we've enjoyed our stops, visited with friends and made some new acquaintances. It's never really lonely on The Loop. We got back to the boat, which we left at Wild Dunes Resort …

This past Sa**************ed to the coastal plain of eastern North Carolina for some hiking at Goose Creek State Park. I met up with Jason, Anna, and Shawna in Durham at around 7 and we carpooled out to the park, arriving just after 9. There was a trail race at the park and it was quite crowded. The parking lots were full, so we had to park along the side of the road just past the picnic area then waited for ...

... evergreens too to brighten it up even more. The cool thing about this hike was that we are right on the coast and starting to get into more southern tropical weather (although it doesn't feel like it right now) so we would walk between colorful leaves changing and evergreens and then into a tropical swamp filled with ferns and vines. It was a cool experience and made for a nice relaxing hike. The one thing we were on the alert for was hunters though. We ...
