Last week there was snow on the mountains and the views from the house were fantastic. Also had some brilliant sunsets here as well.

We will be adding lots of pictures of our adventure and sharing some of the highlights. Just need to get packing now! ...

... in here I took a stroll all around and headed up to Ambleside. It was so nice to walk, breathe in fresh air and only see another sole every now and again. It was also rather cool and gave the opportunity to dress up in my winter woollies.

It seems to be pitched primarily as an overnight stop for coach passengers, (there are three in the car park), and is clean and basic if a little jaded. Although we tried to take the room + breakfast deal when we checked in, it seems that the night man didn't manage that and we're not on the list, requiring a quick trip back to ...

... going on, but this soon gave way to more stable ground that was no less steep. Walking through the car park I saw the first people out walking getting ready in their cars. Nods and waves exchanged I continued around the field up to the stone cross that marked the halfway point for me between the summit and town. Beyond the next gate the path zig zagged at a very sharp angle. I was not going to be doing this without needing to stop. It was hard, i was still building ...
