      Last week there was snow on the mountains and the views from the house were fantastic. Also had some brilliant sunsets here as well.

      ... Bowness-on-Windermere is bigger then Waterhead. It's the central location for all of the ferries doing tours of the lake. I enjoyed walking amongst all of the little shops & cafes. I did walk up to Windermere from here, which again has lots of little feature, but mainly the tourist centre & train station are here.

      ... levels since giving up smoking (I still am) so I had to pause a number of times up this section. The ground was rocky scree which would very easily lead to a sprained ankle. Not something I wanted happening. By the time I reached the next gate I could see Little Man and the clouds just rolling onto the top, Skiddaw would be climbed through the clouds, there wasn't going to be much of a view from the top.       ... Day 3
      With the weather forecast just as bad as the last couple of days, we decided there was little point in trying to tackle the big peaks. So instead we took a walk from Ambleside which took us out of the town and steadily up a valley. At least this time we got some views! It was beautiful in Autumn and we reached a lovely river which we crossed to then eventually circle back to town.

      ... which was in fact serving finer dining for lunch. We went up stairs and sat down on couches overlooking the lake and the mountains. We ordered champagne and scones knowing no one else from our class would venture off enough to find our hidden gem.
