Oddly enough the french have croissants, OJ, coffee, Mini baguettes with salami, fromage (brie I think it was - at least it looked like it) and hard boiled eggs for their breakfast. Thankfully they had cornflakes for us. Oh, and not to forget the coffee. Bloody good coffee. Filtered but strong and good. Parfait! Time for a famil through the streets. After making our way down to Galeries Lafayette (.com) - think of Myer and DJ's combined both in clothing and size of both stores put together - ...
Paris, Īle-de-France, France adamhills8am - What a sleep in! After a very leisurely breakfast we decide that a day of shopping is in order. Galeries Lafayette and Printemps here we come! (printemps is nmore upmarket designer style). After many hours of walking around looking for something that fits and that wasnt going to blow all my shopping money - everything is soooo very expensive over here! - case in point, 2 iced coffees = $16aud, 1 t shirt = $40-50, not designer, and 1 designer T, around $10 more than that. I think we must...

Paris, France adamhillsAs there is no one else getting up early in Paris you tend to not get up early yourself. So far the trip has been pretty full on and a lot of which hasn't been written down because of some reason or another. One instance of this - ok well, two instances - relate to our travels on the Met. On a couple of occasions we have gotten on and gone to the next stop and just as the doors are about to close an old man runs to the door, jumps on, puts his bag down and proceeds to play the Accordion. From...
Paris, France adamhillsHow does it go? Early to bed and early to rise makes a young man healthy, wealthy and wise? (well thats what my Nan always says). The French like to do lunch at around whenever they feel like it, followed by aperitiffs at say 6pm, then dinner at around 8pm. We however - I mean Australia - tend to eat at around 6pm, and are in bed by 10-11pm. Not the case here. So, as we fall in a heap at 10pm due to walking around 10kms a day, the noise from the cafe's downstairs drifts up to keep us company ...
Paris, France adamhillsAhhh, Monday. Up early. Breakfast downstairs consisting of coffee, oj, corn flakes, yoghurt and a hard boiled egg - like all other monrnings. I really do look forward to it, and its not just us, its also other holidaying french (its their time off now and most have gone to the countryside for a month, although, lately, its the loud uncompromising and un apologetic Italians and Spanish that have now been thrown in just to keep things moving along. We had planned to take the trip out to Versail...
Paris, France adamhillsOur last full day in glorious Paris! I can't believe that its gone so fast. Can we stay longer? ie Fulltime? Please?! Today was hot. but not too hot to not visit Versailles. 2 trains later (post lazy slow breakfast with the staring man family - who we later on saw at Versailles!) Ok, fine. Staring man is the husband in a family of 4 - italian - that constantly stares at us when we have breakfast. I think it has something to do with our accents and I am not sure if they speak any or much Engli...
Paris, France adamhillsParis, wow, what can I say? It is a beautiful city with gorgeous buildings. We caught the Eurostar across from London - nice and simple. In Paris, the food is either lots of bread or lots of meat. I had a rustic dish, Minced Duck and potato, which is not actually duck mince but rather chopped cooked duck with mashed potato served in a glass pot. It tasted like the shepherd's pie my late grandma used to make, and brought back nice memories of my childhood. Things about Paris: - the Louvre is f...

... 2. The same alcohol as a jug of heavy beer for a fraction of the cost equated to prudent alcohol consumption in my books and went down a treat. We also ventured inside the Basilica and checked out the awesome dome. The montmartre was packed to the gills with locals, tourists and performers all enjoying the warm Paris evening as the sun set over the city. Rus was dead set on getting a picture of the Eiffel tower at night with its cool lightshow, so he went off and did that while Luke and ...
