Our week in Innsbruck has come to an end and boy have we had a fantastic time here. We arrived Monday afternoon and flew over the snow-capped mountains to land in the centre of Innsbruck. Looking up at the alps when you're standing on the tar mac will never get old. It's just amazing.

We are staying in Old Town and have the royal gardens right behind us. Everything is within walking distance, ...

... fived our instructor goodbye, took a group photo and headed inside for a drink.

Before we went home I decided to do one last ski down the mountain. As the movable strip had been turned off I walked up the hill, put my skis on at the top and then slide down. Apparently Dan had been inspired by efforts and had walked up the hill, put his skis on and come back down before I had a) noticed and b) managed to get my skis on haha.

First ski lesson - aced! ...

... snow village we imagined we would get to see. It's just beautiful.

We've played like kids in the snow, had snow ball fights, built a snow man (sort of), jumped in it, fell in it, and thoroughly looked like deadset tourists haha. I love snow!

... and beautiful church. Lit only by candles and accompanied by a grand organ and talented young fello on the xylophone the atmosphere for amazing. There was no heating, so the full 3 degrees outside was felt, lucky we had thought to wrap up before hand.

It was a beautiful mass spoken in German only. A lovely way to continue the Christmas celebrations.

The town of Innsbruck was very quiet on Christmas ...

      Hidden Gem in the Mountains

Before arriving in Innsbruck I did a little research online and found out that it was the most dangerous airport in Europe and one of the most dangerous in the world! As a nervous flier this wasn't the most comforting of news! However, whilst being dangerous to land at due to the 8000ft mountains and short runway, it is without a doubt the most stunning approach I have ever witnessed! I would recommend visiting Innsbruck just for the incredible view from the plane!
