... this area has the highest level of unemployment & many young people leave to look for jobs elsewhere. This means that many local businesses have to close. The lack of supermarkets en route, as well as the fact it was Sunday where everything is closed-we had to resort to having broth soup made with a single stock cube and porridge for dinner!!

It's pretty interesting to watch as there is all sizes of boats coming and going.

... time we camped up and walked into the town the annual food festival had just started! This consisted of all the hotel chefs in the area setting up stalls in the main square serving small portions of their finest dishes for 5 euros each. 4 courses in, we were very satisfied and waddled back to the tent for an early night in preparation for a big day ...
... and one for himself and sat with us to enjoy the evening sun. He then brought over a table and chairs for us and some of his mum's meatballs to go with our dinner. Later one of Paul's friends Basti came over and we joined them up at the house for some more beers and they brought out this Dutch "Zuidam" which is like a whiskey which went down a treat. ... change was my right knee, which was swollen and sore from the exertions of Thursday and, by shortening the ride by 30-40 km, I hoped it would give the knee a chance to recover.
