... scenery. Oberwesel itself was a cute little village surrounded by old rock walls. We enjoyed coffee, hot chocolates and cakes for about 10 Euro in total.

... headed down to the imperial castle ruins about 20 mins down the Rhine. They happened to be closed (of course) but I wasn't going to let a sign that wasn't even in English tell me what to do, so I did what any other Mitchos would do and jumped the fence! So worth it, it was soo cool inside. I went to a little Beirhaus near the castle and got a nice cheap goulash soup and a beer. ... candy and flowers ("Kamillo" and "Trushia"), but we also learned the names and a few lyrics of the 3 famous German songs we heard playing all weekend. The songs have now been on repeat on all of our Itunes for the past week... By the end of the parade, we boarded the bus back home with a bag full of candies, chocolates, and flowers.

Although we arrived back to Freiburg to a week full of midterms and deadlines for papers, our carnival weekend made it totally worth it.
