... My body braces for a cold shock as my naked feet enter the water, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how warm it is. Much warmer than Tofino for sure.

It was a perfect evening surf. Nice sets of 5 ft waves, were broken by smaller sets, making it easy to get out. A quilt of high cirrus clouds cast a beautiful light on the rolling emerald hills, broken by the occasional sand dune or crumbling cliff. Everything about the place felt soft, even the warm waves were soft.
Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland jmckerricherI was really hoping, as I always do, to have a vacant seat next to mine on the flight. My hopes were dashed at the last moment when a gangly British man found his seat next to mine. He wedged himself in; all elbows and knees. We didn't exchange any words until feeding time, which is when I usually choose to voice my thoughts on the provided cuisine.

"It looks like they've outdone ...
Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland jmckerricher... man in the room has to come give you a birthday kiss on the cheek! It was so embarassing, but I have the interesting tale of being kissed my about 15-20 men old enough to be my grandfather. ha Anyways on my birthday I went to classes and David gave me a pretty gold chain because I had broken one my necklaces when I was over here. Then after class the girls helped me get ready and David took me out for a nice supper. It was good to eat ...
Carlow, County Carlow, Ireland kristonkay... next stop, the town of Carlow. We’re staying at the Avlon Bed & Breakfast, which has gotten rave reviews. Tom has thought of everything the traveler might need, most importantly, a comfortable king-sized bed. He gave us directions to a wonderful pub for dinner where we had roast beef and the ever present “potatoes and veg”.

Back at the b&b, we’re relaxing and looking forward to sleeping in a bit before enjoying what promises to be a wonderful breakfast.
Carlow, County Carlow, Ireland rovingwernersAfter finishing the Ring of Dingle we pointed the GPS to Killarney. On the way we were in need of a rest, bathroom and a pint. So we stopped at a very interesting place, Inch Beach. Ironically the beach is a 3 miles long crescent of sand. Must be the old Irish sense of humor in play.
The beach reminded me a little of Wildwood, without the boardwalk. There was a lot of sand to traverse before reaching the water's edge.
It was ...
Inch, County Kerry, Ireland dsmcc... sleep on the overnight flight...despite all sorts of contortions.
252: American dollars it cost to rent a very small, manual transmission Hyundai in Dublin for a day and a half.
3: Hours spent driving the Irish countryside today.
3: Hours during the drive spent watching in awe of how freakin' green and beautiful it is here. Seriously, what you have seen in movies and ...
Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland gatravel... night in the Pumphouse, making friends with the slightly strange Englishmen, drinking Killkenny, shooting pool and playing snakes & ladders trivia. * Julia's champion drunken blonde moment = QUESTION- Which of these three options has NOTHING to do with the 1st lunar landing? a ...
Kilkenny, Ireland travelinbuskers... what, it was closed!) so we climbed the ladder to the entrance and took some pictures and headed back to the bus for the 2 hour ride back to Dublin. Once back in Dublin Kristie went to her families for dinner and me and Molly picked up a few groceries and headed to our respective flats. I has bought some 20 min rice and was very disappointed when I realised that the stove in my flat is a piece of **** and it took 40 min for the water to even come close to ...
Kilkenny, Ireland jenn_l_hardy(Originally published at http://www.troysgonewalkabout.com)
< br>After getting to a Bed and Breakfast at the south-eastern tip of the country at 11pm the previous night we were now ready to start things in earnest, but not before the first of my daily full Irish breakfasts – bacon, eggs, tomato, black pudding, fat, salt, some more fat, all smothered in cholesterol. I figure I have until I’m at least thirty before I have to start ...
Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland troywilkinson... gets my vote as the most boring town in Ireland. We wandered around after we ate to try to see what was happening. There was nothing. I don't know if it's the fact that the largest prison in Ireland is just outside the city limits, but this town was dead in the evenings. If you can avoid this place, keep on driving. There are much nicer towns not far from it. And yes, I got a lot of flack from everyone for making us stay in a boring place like Portlaoise.
