It was another beautiful spring day and was just perfect for the visit to Hakone. The day started with a quick Maccas brekkie, then a train from Yoyogi to Shinjuku. I should have researched where the JR ticket office was located - as finding it in the worlds biggest train station was not easy. After three different ticket offices we finally had redeemed our 7 day JR passes. Mums new word for the day is Arigato (thank you). She had a bit of practice ...

... I did not bring any cash with us, only credit cards. We tried a few small restaurants but they were all cash only places. ... On top of that, there was ice cream waiting for us for dessert. Nobody seemed to care that it was quite cool outside and just about everyone enjoyed cookie crumble ice cream to top off a wonderful dinner.

It was a long day and tomorrow looks to be possibly be another long day again. We will check out a few last sites around Tokyo before relocating to Osaka via the Shinkansen or bullet train! Check back tomorrow to find out what happens on Day 3.

      Mt Fuji
Its the tallest peak and what a beautiful peak it is covered in snow. Definitely worth a visit for a few days.

I got the bus from Shinjuku and it took two hours and its easy enough. I suggest getting off at the kawaguchiko station which is central to buses and trains. Theres not much point in getting off at the highlands unless you intend to make the 6 ...

... This stretches for approximately 10 kilometers, which makes it a short trip for my standards. But the trail itself is really amazing and every few hundred meters I had to stop to take some pictures. You walk along high cliffs and pass an old temple and two suspension bridges. The spectacular geology was formed by lava from the nearby dormant volcano Omuro-yama. I think that this trail is absolutely packed in summer, but now I ...
