... before reaching the town of Otsuki. Four trains down, one to go! But here we received bad news. Due to the wet weather, the busses from Kawaguchiko up to the start of the Yoshida trail on Mt. Fuji were cancelled today! That left us with no way to do our Fuji climb – at least not today. After looking at our options, we headed up the last leg to Kawaguchiko anyways, and took a hostel for the night. The rain tapered off and the skies began ...

We arrived at the top, 3,776 m height, in good time. we enjoyed a really expensive coffee and noddle soup at the one station hut near the crater.

Viewing the sunrise was amazing! Suddenly, it was all bright and and the view across all the nearby mountains was spectacular. You can get really close to the crater which was surprising for me.

There has been some sort of place of worship on this site since 628 AD, although the current temple was built in 1950. Leading up to the Temple is a magnificent gate and pedestrianised walkway with little shops selling a range of things from snacks and touristy kitch to crafts and gifts. Surrounding the Senoji Temple are little laneways with lots of lovely individual shops catering for ...

8 km walk from walk Magemo to Tsumago.

The guide book and the tourist information centre told me that it would take 3hours to walk it.
However I only had 2, as I got up way to late to actually do this walk. What can I say i did it in 1 1/2 hours :)

Rock'n Roll!!!! found the coolest little coffee shop in Tsumago.

Wasted no time going from the base of Fuji to our first onsen (hot spring baths). The minerals in the water are supposed to do good things for the skin. It felt amazing to rest our muscles and get clean after the trek. Checked into Hakone Suimeiso ryokan, a traditional Japanese guesthouse. This is where you are served a kaiseki meal in your room ...
