... and everyone there. On my last day Jon held an appreciation circle for me where everyone sat down and said something that they were appreciative of, then something that they appreciated about me. I'm not very good at taking compliments but it was so beautiful to hear how I had made an impression of everyones lives at the farm. ... like. After seeing just one small glimpse of the canyon in a brochure we just had to check it out. It was one of those out of the way places that looked very much worth the extra driving time it took to get there. And it was!
The canyon was in total an 8 mile hike that took you through the winding and narrowing/widening canyon with the dried up river bed acting as the trail itself. Seeing as we did not have time to do all 8 miles we only did about 3 ...

Yesterday's drive was interesting following the Colorado river up through a canyon for 100 miles before hitting the interstate I-70 to New Castle. We went through Cisco, a ghost town that died with the steam train. 18-inch pizza at New Castle and bedding down with Mormons at Econolodge. Sunday was a driving day. We crossed the Rockies over independence Pass with ...

On Digger's last day we drove up through the high country north of Jefferson up over Georgia Pass (11,585ft on the Continental Divide) in his 'Lincoln Navigator' hire car - he had to change from his BMW 740 after the sunroof exploded!!!!. Test fired a few weapons......
Very pristine environment above the tree line. Not a good place to be in the middle of winter.....
Beautiful views and the Aspen trees just beginning to change colour as winter approaches....

So April 1st was actually Gaper Day, not Gaybor day... The event started decades ago as a way to show off old ski gear on April Fools' Day and since then has evolved into an all day party where locals dress in clothing poking fun at 'gapers' or tourists. Ahh, so that's what it was.
Woke this morning to couple of inches of new snow and a layer of fog. Temp was 18F but with wind chill factor feels like 6F (~ minus 14 C). So much for ...
