    ... but 500 and 1,250 baht in the following months, ie 30 Euros compared to the current 8! The girl at the front desk did however suggest that in the case of long stay, they would reduce the price, but Alain did not want to investigate further. The official price of my room from April to November is 500 baht, that is EUR 12.50 but I pay just 8 through Booking.com for a month's duration, with a substantial discount that maybe is repeated in subsequent periods.

    ... old town. The city is well lit, but walking though old town everything was closed. We saw one dive bar playing frumpy old music and passed up that quickly. Wanting to dance and experience Phuket like we been told, we finally found a disco. Not only was it nearly empty, but the singer sounded like a dying chicken and the drinks were overpriced.     We walked a ways down the mall and Paula said 'we should buy those today'. That hadn't been the plan but we both knew we shouldn't risk having them gone on our next visit.
